The Bank House is situated just a few yards from the birthplace of famous golf course designer Donald Ross and Dornoch Cathedral, which has a long and chequered history and is now restored to be a fine 'Grade A Listed' building with a strong following from the community.
Also close is our pretty town square in which, during most summer Saturday evenings, our pipe band plays. These are all within the Castle Street conservation area and less than 1/2 mile from Dornoch’s two golf courses and our fabulous sandy beaches. Dornoch's huge old Jail building contains a shop offering top-quality clothing, giftware, jewellery and toiletries, as well as works by local artists and sculptors - more details HERE
There's a good variety of places to eat well in Dornoch, most of them also within easy walking distance of the Bank House.
Ten miles north, at Golspie, you could visit Dunrobin Castle with its soaring spires, home of the Dukes of Sutherland, or travel south just over the Dornoch Firth to take a tour of the Glenmorangie distillery, where one of Scotland's most famous malt whiskies is made.
